My Lessons

In my lessons, students experience and are engaged in the following:

Singing and listening in order to develop aural skills

The theory underpinning the music itself to give a fuller understanding of musical structure

The genre to which the individual pieces belong and looking at other pieces within that style

The musical context of the piece by looking at the society and culture surrounding the work

The periods of music and composers within them

It has been and continues to be an enriching and rewarding experience to teach children and adults. Over the years, some of my students have even become professional musicians themselves. Others have gone on to enjoy music and see it as an important part of their daily lives.

One can start learning and enjoying music at any age. Learning an instrument, like every other study is progressive and takes application. There is no fast track to success. The reward comes from the experience of learning, creating and accomplishing.
